Boris Johnson struts his stuff for Glades shoppers!
Shoppers at the Glades were stopped in their tracks at 11.00am today when a ‘Boris Johnson’ Flash Mob broke out into a spontaneous dance routine as part of a synchronised Flash Mob across nine of the UK’s top shopping centres. The 10-strong Flash Mob wore classic Boris Johnson masks and the bespoke choreographed routine was set to a specially created urban hip-hop track.
“Boris Johnson is such a nationally well-known character for all sorts of reasons and we thought it would be a fantastic way of giving our shoppers a fun surprise when they were least expecting it,” said Richard Bailey, Central Marketing Manager, Capital Shopping Centres. “Dance is hugely popular in the UK at the moment and this was a light-hearted way of giving people the opportunity to watch a live performance.”
Capital Shopping Centres – who run 14 UK shopping destinations – were chosen as the ideal venues to bring this fantastic Flash Mob with a difference to life. The routine was choreographed by industry expert Julie Kavanagh, who has created Flash Mob-style events for the likes of Ford, Nike and Xbox. And this attention-grabbing scene at the Glades certainly drew in the crowds as the ‘Borises’ got to their feet to strike a pose, and some shoppers couldn’t resist joining in the beat with ‘Boris’!
